Our History

Colony West Swim Club (CWSC) opened in 1965. It was built by Park Realty (PR) who was the developer of Colony West subdivision. It served them well as an enticement to buy and build in Colony West.

In mid- to late-1978, PR indicated that the pool operation was losing money. Some of the Colony West residents organized a meeting of CWSC members, and it was decided to offer some volunteer work to PR in order to keep CWSC in operation and in the neighborhood.

At a later member meeting, the issue of liability by the volunteers arose, and it was decided to form Colony West Swim Club Inc as a not-for-profit corporation. The Corporate Charter is dated June 4, 1979.

CWSC leased the pool facility beginning January 1, 1982.

CWSC purchased the pool on August 25, 1989.

The members now own the pool. The members elect a Board of Directors who elect officers from among the elected Board.

The large pool was completely replaced in 1998. The pool heater was installed with the pool replacement.

In 2004, the concession building was added.

Improvements and upgrades are added annually as needed.
