Job Summary:
We are seeking a positive, energetic, leader for the position of general pool manager of Colony West Swim Club. The Pool Manager’s duties encompass many aspects of pool operation, including managing the lifeguards and other staff members of Colony West Swim Club; creating and monitoring the lifeguard schedule; enforcing the swim club pool rules; ensuring the safety of the pool grounds and the 3 pools; managing the opening and closing of the pool; organizing the swim lesson program; overseeing swim team operations; and assisting with general business operations. The Pool Manager must exhibit effective communication skills with members, lifeguards, other staff, and the Board of Directors, and must be able to facilitate conflict resolution with members and/or staff. We aim to promote enhanced member
communication and engagement and seek an individual with dynamic leadership skills and a growth mentality to help position our club for success into the future. This position is salaried.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform Opening duties of the pool depending on start of shift
- Perform Closing duties of the pool depending on end of shift worked
- Manage lifeguard staff and make lifeguard schedule
- Provide orientation and training for staff
- Monitor lifeguard staff while on duty
- Educate staff and members on pool rules, and assist with rule enforcement
- Ensure the safety of the pool grounds, concession, and 3 pools
- Collect data of pool PH, chlorine levels, and temperature. Communicate with lifeguards, Illini Pools, and Chuck Landon regarding pool chemical levels
- Direct and delegate cleaning of the pool, upkeep of all pool equipment, pool chairs, diving boards,
bathrooms, showers, and guard area - Register members at pool and charge for all guests and lessons.
- Organize pool forms including swimming lessons, party forms, etc.
- Assist with opening of concessions area, checking on staff and assisting with any needs, may need to help in concessions at times, count and secure money at end of the day
- Monitor severe weather threats and ensure the safety of members and staff
- Manage and lead in emergency situations, properly document any incident reports
- Maintain proficiency in utilizing and updating the pool’s member communication systems, in accordance with the established communication strategy.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills with members and comfort with conflict resolution between members, members and staff, etc.
- Attend board meetings and communicate professionally with board on relevant topics and concerns of the pool and staff
- Facilitate and promote the development of activities and initiatives that will enhance member satisfaction and the financial success of the pool
Qualifications/Requirements: Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding (or equivalent); Experience managing pool operations, including water chemistry, equipment maintenance, and staff supervision.
